La Vendange

Liz and Ali, of the nearby Le Couvent in Roujan, put out their usual call for help to pick their grapes this year. 

Timing of 'La Vendange' is a tricky one, influenced by the weather during the season. The decision of when to pick is goverened by the grape's sugar level. These subtleties, beyond mere mortals, are left to the experts.

Locals and guests joined forces, a dozen or so of us pitched up at 06.30 for coffee and croissants. At this early hour I was blessed with a view, one I'd not seen before, of Neffies looking ever-so sleepy in the dawn-red sunlight.
