Pezenas par velo

After a long, vin-fuelled, meal in Les Goutailles the night before, somehow we found ourselves commited to an extended cycle ride to Pezenas this morning.

It all seemed so simple last night, inspired even. We would enjoy the splendid country lanes and the vines heavy with grape... As there were only eight bikes, the unlucky ones would have to make their way by car.

And indeed it was splendid (if not a little sticky). In fact by the time we reached the Pezenas outskirts in just under an hour, meeting many other (fitter) two-wheelers - we'd still only seen three cars.

Of course, when we caught up with our poor pals who were forced to journey by car, they had to endure endless banter about just what they had missed. All this as we completed a fine lunch ... but faced the reality of a few minor repairs and the return ride to Maison Dix.
